From Kidney Sale Desperation to Helping Others: Phelix Makanda’s Remarkable Journey

Phelix Makanda: From Kidney Sale Desperation to Philanthropy

In a remarkable tale of resilience and redemption, Phelix Makanda’s journey from the brink of desperation to becoming a successful businessman and philanthropist is nothing short of inspiring

The story begins in September 2021 when Phelix Makanda, a resident of Kisumu, found himself in dire financial straits.

Desperation led him to carry a placard around Kisumu town, boldly indicating that he was willing to sell one of his kidneys.

His motive was simple yet heart-wrenching: his younger brother needed funds to join Kenyatta University, and Phelix saw no other way to secure the necessary fees.

However, the public’s reaction was not one of empathy but rather mockery.

Instead of the help he hoped for, Phelix was bombarded with calls from people who saw his plight as a source of amusement.

He admitted, “When I advertised my kidney, I received so many calls, but most of the people were just calling to make fun of me.”

As if things couldn’t get worse, phelix’s situation took a terrifying turn.

Three individuals, seemingly interested in buying his kidney, contacted him.

They negotiated over the phone and agreed to meet for the procedure and exchange of cash.

With hope flickering in his heart, phelix embarked on this risky journey

Little did he know that this path would lead to a near-kidnapping.

While en route with the three men, their car suddenly suffered a tire blowout.

In the chaos that ensued, Phelix noticed another car closely trailing them, adding to the confusion and fear.

Miraculously, the alleged “kidnappers” abandoned him and fled.

The car that had been following them stopped nearby, and a stranger approached Phelix.

This stranger turned out to be his savior, rescuing him from an uncertain fate.

Phelix recounted, “I explained everything to him because at that point I was stranded.

That is when he mentioned that I had just escaped a kidnap.”

In this dire moment, phelix’s instincts told him to trust this compassionate stranger.

The stranger not only provided Phelix with shelter for the night but also drove him back to Kisumu and offered assistance in restarting his life and business.

Phelix embraced a new beginning by venturing into the beauty products business, which gradually stabilized his finances.

Through a stroke of unexpected luck, an old debtor paid him money that he had previously considered a loss.

With this unexpected windfall, Phelix managed to enroll his younger brother into the university, thanks in part to the Higher Education Loans Board funds.

Today, Phelix Makanda is no longer the man on the brink of selling his kidney. He is a successful entrepreneur, a loving brother, and, most notably, a philanthropist.

He has established the Phelix Makanda Foundation, driven by a profound sense of gratitude for the stranger who saved him from peril.

Phelix’s story is a testament to the belief that even in the darkest of times, there is hope.

He is convinced that the seemingly inexplicable events of that fateful day were orchestrated by a higher power to guide him toward his destiny.

In a moment of reflection, he silently prayed and made a vow to make God proud someday.

Through the Phelix Makanda Foundation, he is keeping that promise.

The foundation serves as a beacon of hope for individuals who find themselves in desperate situations, just as Phelix once did.

It is a testament to the indomitable human spirit and the power of kindness and resilience in the face of adversity.

Phelix Makanda’s journey serves as a reminder that even in the face of despair, the kindness of strangers and the determination to persevere can lead to a brighter future.

His transformation from a man willing to sell his kidney to a philanthropist offering a helping hand to those in need is a story of hope, faith, and the unwavering belief that better days lie ahead.
